review: colorverse ginkgo tree

Since we're already on a bit of a Colorverse run, let's keep going!

I've talked about Colorverse inks at length on this blog, and I'm sure you're tired of that and don't want to hear it again! So I'll just go ahead and say that Colorverse Ginkgo Tree comes in the tree-themed release. It's a bit of a departure from their other "seasons," but I find it interesting territory to delve into.

Ginkgo Tree is a golden orange color.

Ginkgo Tree has a surprising amount of water resistance. It looks like you'll be able to read most of your writing if you happen to spill water on it.

This ink took a little longer to dry. It was almost dry at the 45 second mark.

There's a little bit of shading here on Kokuyo MIO paper.
On Tomoe River paper, there's a little more shading.
I compare it here to a couple other oranges. Ginkgo Tree has a notable yellow shift to it when you compare it to other orange inks! Graf von Faber-Castell Burned Orange is pretty close, but it's more of a true orange. Nagasawa Kobe Arima Amber is more brown, as is Diamine Terracotta. Both Diamine Ancient Copper and Diamine Blood Orange are deeper.

I had this ink in a Pilot Prera with an italic nib that I borrowed from work. The Prera was a bit drier than I would prefer, but beggars can't be choosers. Ginkgo Tree had nice flow, which I suspect would be better if the feed was a little wetter.

I'm not an especially big fan of orange inks, but Ginkgo Tree is a nice shade. It's bright without being unusable, which is always a plus!

Where to buy

I got this sample for free, thanks to working at JetPens!
