One of the great joys of working at a stationery retailer is that you're surrounded by people who are just as obsessed with stationery as you are. Last month, I joined my coworkers in making a big order from 10x10, a Korean online retailer. I got stickers from Iconic, Dailylike, Rihoon, as well as some smaller indie artists.

Just because this blog is pivoting to Other Content doesn’t mean I’ll stop talking about inks. I will never stop talking about inks.
I wanted to post this earlier, but as they say, life finds a way. I've cut down on my inked pens drastically: I keep three to four fountain pens on me now, which is a wild number considering I used to have my entire collection inked at once. So when I remembered that I used an ink I really liked and I should ink that up again for this post, well... it had to wait a minute. Or a month.

Mind Wave has been one of my favorite stationery manufacturers for a while. They specialize largely in what I like to call “mascot” stationery: products that feature a small cast of characters. They make stickers, washi tapes, AirPod covers, even branded Zebra DelGuards and Mildliners. I’m a big fan of Shibanban, a group of shiba inus big and small that get into all kinds of exciting trouble.
A recent addition to the Mind Wave lineup is Kotori Machi, which imagines a peaceful shopping street lined with beloved local stores. The original Kotori Machi “shops” included eight locations: Sunset Bookstore, Fleur Sereine (a flower shop), Pâtisserie Hitokuchi, Kasasagi Coffee, Restaurant Reshipi-tei, Fille Rêveuse (a dress shop), Cinema Scarlet, and Stand Bar 3329. The next four focused on classic and vintage shops, like Sento Yutosoyu (an onsen, or public bath), Kissaten Jiruetto (an old-school tea/coffee shop), Tailor Enaga, and Kasho Tsubame (a wagashi, or traditional Japanese sweets, shop)1.

I've been using the bullet journal system in a Stalogy 365 A6 notebook since July 2017! You can read more about my five month check-up. I thought it was a great system for a college student: I could keep track of everything, and take note of what wasn't done by the end of the day.

The fountain pen hobby is full of evolutions: people (usually) begin with starter pens, printer paper, blue or black ink. Then, all of a sudden, you're pulling your credit card out even while your eyes water at the price of a gold-nibbed pen. You have a leather pen case with so many pens, too many pens, why do you need this many pens? You don't need another pen. You click buy anyway.

There are a couple of brands and releases that are exclusive to stores or to the island, and I wanted to talk about that briefly in advance of my first Taiwan-exclusive ink review. This is going to be a relatively quick rundown, but I hope that if you happen to be there you'll be able to take a look around and find some relatively rare inks.

Happy new year, everybody! Okay, seems a bit strange to say this two weeks into the new year, and after I posted last week, but you know how it is. I took a quick break to spend time with my family over my holiday break, and I'm ready to jump into 2018 with a post thinking about the old year—strange, I know. But I own about thirty inks, give or take, which is pretty much too many inks for one person to use in a sensible period of time. You know... they're just so tempting. I figured it's been a while since I really took a look at my collection and thought about my favorites, the inks I want to use every time I fill a pen.

I like fountain pens.
I mean, you probably already know this: you're on this blog.
I might have too many new pens at this point to really talk about all of them, but I did want to talk a little about my collection as an end of year retrospective, because my two handfuls have shifted and changed over the course of my short fountain pen life.
Several years ago you wouldn't find a single broad nib with me; now, the overwhelming majority of my pens skew towards the wetter, thicker line. I hope this read, although it contains some pens that are no longer available, is pleasant and informative!
